The Recap
Nobody expected much from us on paper. Armwood was favored big, and honestly, a loss by 30 wouldn’t have shocked anyone — especially with the roster we’re working with right now. All but two of our receivers transferred in after spring, and a few of them only started practicing that Monday. That’s not a typo. Monday.
So when we walked away with a 14-14 tie, that’s a win in every way that matters. The game ended early due to an injury to our backup QB — he’s totally fine, thankfully, but it cut the night short before we could see who would pull out a win.
Cruz opened the scoring with the first rushing touchdown of the night, which set the tone early. There are definitely things to clean up before next week, but for a team that “should” have been blown out, we looked pretty good.
