THE RECAP
Good to Be in Red
Spring football is officially back, and the Edgewater Eagles did not come to play around. This past Thursday’s spring game against Seminole was everything — the crowd, the energy, the plays, and yes, the fit. Final score: 35–7. Eagles win.
Let me break it all down!
PREGAME
The Eagle Walk
Nothing gets me more hyped than the Eagle Walk. Watching the team run through the tunnel and onto the field is one of those moments that gives you chills every single time — whether this is your first game or your 100th at the water, it doesn’t matter how many games you’ve been to. There’s something about seeing your brother out there, locked in and ready, that just hits different. The energy was already building, and the game hadn’t even started yet.
GAME DAY FIT
What I Wore to the Spring Game
Game day dressing is one of my favorite styling challenges. You want to look put-together but still feel like yourself — not like you just grabbed whatever had a team logo on it. For this one, I went full burgundy energy, and I’m not mad about it.
At the fence before game time, the bleacher stairs basically became a photoshoot location.
THE FIT BREAKDOWN

The burgundy was a nod to the red without being too on-the-nose, and the leather shorts kept it edgy and feminine at the same time. Casual cool energy — exactly the vibe.

THE ATMOSPHERE
The Crowd Showed Up
We got there early and honestly, the stands were pretty empty at first — I was a little like, okay, where is everyone? But then the crowd absolutely rolled in and it turned into a full, buzzing game day atmosphere.
The funny thing? Basically no one sat in the actual stands. Everyone lined up at the fence, standing shoulder to shoulder, watching from the sidelines. It had this raw, intimate, community feel to it — like everyone just wanted to be as close to the action as possible. Honestly, I loved it.
CRUZ CONTROL
Number One QB, Always
Now for the part I’ve been dying to talk about. The coaching staff was intentional going in — protect Cruz, don’t let him take unnecessary hits in a spring game, and don’t tip your hand on what this team is truly capable of heading into fall. So they leaned heavy into the run game and kept the passing short and smart.
But even within those limits? He showed out.

A 50-yard pass mid-field that had the fence crowd going loud. A solid run where he took it himself and gained real ground. And then — my personal favorite — a rollout touchdown that was just chef’s kiss. Watching him in the pocket, rolling out, finding the end zone… I genuinely didn’t stop smiling for five minutes after that one.
Post-game with the man of the hour. Romans 8:31 on the eye black — That’s Cruz. 🖤
And when it was all said and done — 35–7 — Cruz was ecstatic. Genuinely, purely happy. That kind of joy is contagious, and I am so proud of him.

What’s Coming This Fall
Spring games are special because they’re not just about the score — though a 35–7 win certainly doesn’t hurt. They’re about momentum, confidence, and getting a glimpse of what’s coming. And what’s coming for the Edgewater Eagles this fall? I think it’s going to be really, really good. Cruz, if you’re reading this — you killed it. So proud of you, always. 🖤

Very impressive Austyn! Great job Cruz & the rest of the Eagles!!! Those were some great plays to the roll-out for the TD pass to Cruz keeping the ball & getting some good yardage! The play where the reciever caught the ball, got some good yardage but got flipped was a great play too. Praying for you Cruz & team!!
